Philips Avent products

Why is it important? 

 

Hard water causes limescale build up which may cause your product to fail. Here are the most common symptoms of limescale:

  • leaking
  • brown water
  • white particles and residue inside the product.

Regular descaling prolongs live of your product  

ensure you are performing it at least every 4 weeks

How to descale my

Philips Avent steriliser

To descale a steriliser you can use any type of citric acid based descaling agent or white vinegar.

If you use a descaling agent from your supermarket, follow the instructions on the bottle or package.

If you use white vinegar
(SCF276, SCF274, SCF284 SCF285 SCF287):

 

1. Pour 100ml of white vinegar mixed with 200ml cold water into steriliser (SCF27x) or 80ml of white vinegar mixed with 20ml cold water (SCF28x).
2. Allow to stand in the unit until lime scale has dissolved.
3. Do not switch on!
4. Drain and rinse the inside of the steriliser thoroughly.

To descale SCF922 please:

 

1. Pour 60ml/2 fluid oz of water and 30ml/1 fluid oz of white vinegar (6-8% acetic acid) into the heating plate.
2. Leave the solution in the heating plate until the limescale has resolved. The process takes about 20 minutes, but should not be longer than 1 hour.
3. Empty the heating plate, thoroughly rinse it and wipe with a soft cloth.
When descaling, do not put the plug in the wall socket.

After descaling, store the steriliser in a clean and dry place.

Philips Avent bottle warmer

To descale a bottle warmer you can use any type of citric acid based descaling agent or white vinegar.
If you use a descaling agent from your supermarket, follow the instructions on the bottle or package.

If you use white vinegar
(SCF355, SCF255):

 

1. Pour 50ml of vinegar (white) mixed with 100ml of cold water (SCF355, SCF255) or 100ml/3.5oz of vinegar mixed with 200ml/7oz of cold water (SCF260) into the warmer ensuring the basket is in place.
2. Allow to stand in the unit until any limescale has dissolved.
3. Empty the unit and rinse thoroughly.
